Courtesy of the NATO Summit: Slowdowns, Shutdowns, and Patdowns

For much of human history, world leaders never met each other. Oh, they might have met on the field of battle, or at the arranged weddings of their children… but for the most part, rulers didn’t meet unless they ruled neighboring countries. The world was simply too big a place, distances too great, the burdens of monarchy too demanding, to risk a three or six month voyage. You might not have a throne to return to, by the time you returned. So they invented diplomats. Nations would appoint permanent ambassadors, or at least temporary envoys, to visit other heads of...

Mom of Murdered Obama Gay Lover Speaks Up (updated 1/20/12)

Mom of Murdered Obama Gay Lover Speaks Up Wayne Madsen has this to say in an exclusive-to-subscribers report on Jan. 19, 2012: WMR has learned from a source who is an official of Trinity United Church of Christ (TUCC) in Chicago, President Obama’s former church, that congregants are afraid of discussing the brutal execution-style murders of two of the church’s members. The church’s choir director Donald Young was murdered on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2007, at the begining of the presidential campaign. Although the Chicago Police Department indicated there was a “person of interest” in the Young case, no one...

Israel Not Invited to NATO's Chicago Summit

Israel will not be invited to NATO's May 20-21 summit in Chicago, the alliance's top official said Friday. But he denied that alliance member Turkey had blocked Israel's participation. Instead, NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said the reason is because Israel does not participate in NATO's main military missions. News reports have claimed that Turkey blocked Israel's participation because of the raid in 2010 by Israeli troops on ships heading to Gaza in which eight Turks and a Turkish-American died. NATO has a system of partnerships with dozens of nations across the globe such as the Mediterranean Dialogue, a NATO...

Denial is a River in Chicago

Yesterday's USA Today/Gallup and Politico/Battleground polls had so much bad news in them for the president that the response from the faithful was akin to shock. The reflexive "Everything is great here" comments from Chicago --made to Mark Helparin and reviewed with Tagg Rpmney on yesterday's show-- plus the loyal talking heads like my Great American Panel pal Bob Beckel on Sean Hannity's show last night were revealing. A campaign is like the economy in one key respect: If you can't see the problems you can't fix the problems. President Obama seems genuinely clueless as to how Obamacare, Keystone XL,...

VISIBLE STATISTICS AND HIDDEN MISSES: CHICAGO'S 2012 NATO SUMMIT

When the president’s former Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel (D, Wilmette) became Mayor of Chicago, many expected him to use his many Washington contacts to bring some big business his way, and he delivered. Mayor Richard M. Daley had sought to bring the Olympics to Chicago… no such luck. But Emanuel did indeed deliver, if on a slightly lesser scale: in his first year, he secured two big meetings for Chicago, the first, a G-20 conference, and the second, a NATO summit. The G-20 meeting was quietly pulled, under cover of darkness, to be held at Camp David instead (good...
