"Unintended Consequence Fee" intended to chide Transportation Department Spirit Airlines is angry over a new Department of Transportation ruleand it's making sure customers know it, by slapping a $2 "Department of Transportation Unintended Consequence Fee" on all tickets. The new rule, which went into effect last week, requires airlines to give customers a full refund, without additional fees, if the customer requests one within 24 hours of booking a flight, USA Today explains. That may sound innocent, but Spirit insists that it's "costing customers millions," arguing that it will lead to unfilled seats on flights, forcing the airline to spread...

In 2008 Barack Obamas campaign shtick was change. That resonated because President Bush was spending too much and the country meant to change Washington. But Obama meant to change the country. In response the Tea Party movement has arisen to implement the real change, putting brakes on that out of control big government growth. Our message to Washington is simple: you have run out of our money, stop excessive spending. You cannot borrow your way out of debt; you cannot spend your way out of deficits. What is President Obamas response to our message of fiscal responsibility? Shared...

A new rule being proposed by the federal Department of Transportation would require farmers to get commercial drivers licenses. Likewise, the proposal, if adopted, would require all farmers and everyone on the farm who operates any of the equipment to obtain a CDL, they added. The proposed rule change would mean that anyone who drives a tractor or operates any piece of motorized farming equipment would be required to pass...

Continuing a campaign initiated by Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood, the administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) addressed the Telematics Detroit 2011 conference with harsh words on the growing trend to integrate infotainment technology into cars. Im not in the business of helping people post on Facebook better. Thats not to say that the NHTSA and DOT are opposed to all telematics applications. In fact, the agencies support systems...
